GEAR UP FOR THE NEW SEASON!

About Us

A little background...We purchased the existing Gear for Multisport store from George and Bea' Marie Altieri in May 2006 and set out on a family adventure that has been exciting and fun. We are both certified PE teachers, and Kevin was teaching in the Lake County School systems when the opportunity to start a new career came about. Kimberly had been staying at home with Gavin for his first year and was eager to get out, so the opportunity was perfect for us.

You may wonder where the "Expertise" comes from in the Gear for Multisport slogan. It comes from the fact that we are both active triathletes and can be seen training and racing most every day and weekend of the year. Both of us have been involved in triathlon for 7 years and running, soccer, basketball, cheerleading and softball before that. Kevin has numerous sprint distance triathlon titles throughout the Southeast and has been on the podium, either overall or age group, in every race he has entered Half Iron distance and below. He has completed 15 Iron distance races with a PR of 9:25, Hawaii IM Championships twice, and qualified for Hawaii five times. Likewise Kimberly has been on every podium since her first race, has qualified for Hawaii twice and is training for her first IM Championships right now. We have been avid students of the sport and love teaching others what we have learned and what we love about being active. Although our sport of choice is triathlon, we love meeting and talking with all active people who desire to live healthy lives.

Oh yeah, we also met during a triathlon (but will not bore you with the sappy story, because it has been printed one to many times - if you really want to read it you can do it here).

Though the sport has deep history in Clermont, it is growing worldwide and we have seen that there are many 'newbies' and people who want to do their first triathlon. So in January of 2006 (while the store was a distant dream) we, with the help of some great friends, started a triathlon club, Clermont Area Triathletes (CATS). And while the club has not exactly taken off like everyone involved had hoped, it is still in existence and looking for interested individuals. Please visit the website for more info.

Our desire is to see the activity level in Clermont grow - it excites us to see families and individuals walking and playing on the Minneola path (we get to view it daily from our home) and become more educated about how to have a healthy lifestyle.
